Sweet
& Spicy Shrimp
Serves 4
Ingredients
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tsp. granular sugar
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp. sesame or peanut oil
1 small onion, sliced
1 small green bell pepper, sliced
1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
3/4 lb. uncooked large shrimp, (about 1/2 cup), peeled and deveined
Preparation
- Mix soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch and red pepper. Set aside.
- In a 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onion,
bell pepper and carrot. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally,
until crisp and tender.
- Stir in soy sauce mixture and shrimp.
- Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp
are pink and sauce thickens.
